Job summary:
The Caterpillar Mapleton Foundry, based in Mapleton, IL, is looking for a self-motivated Facilities Project Engineer. In this role you would report up through the Facilities team and provide your guidance in the maintenance and improvement of various facility, manufacturing processes, and equipment. This will include design, construction, systems integration, maintenance, and other services needed to support our operations.
We need you to provide guidance and support to us! We want your help in ensuring project coordination and completion consistently happens on schedule without interruption to project plans. You will have the opportunity to roll up your sleeves and troubleshoot and analyze problems with the team to help determine root cause of failures and the best course of action going forward. You will be involved in helping us determine what tools and equipment should be purchased to most economically and efficiently complete projects and solve problems. We are willing to listen to all solutions; even if it means modifying an already established practice.
You will be responsible to ensure all established standards, policies, and practices related to quality, safety, cost reduction, hazardous materials, ergonomics, etc… are compliant for the projects that you manage. You will have a direct impact on our key goals including safety, continuous improvement, delivery performance, equipment availability, operational efficiency, cost savings, process capability, etc.

What you will do:
- Overseeing building services and the installation and maintenance of production equipment and building systems.
- Communicating with suppliers' technical support to address equipment or infrastructure disruptions.
- Performing routine-to-complex engineering work potentially on multiple or large facilities.
- Manages planning, execution, and control of small to medium scope facilities projects. Provides products and services to clients requirements.
Skills you must have:
- Process Management: Knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques; ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or enhance existing business or work processes.
- Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives
- Facilities Management: Knowledge of safety measures for physical facilities; ability to maintain, care for and develop commercial and physical facilities.
- Emergency Management: Knowledge of emergency management tools and techniques in a manufacturing organization; ability to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from an emergency.
- Service Excellence: Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques; ability to meet or exceed customer needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner.
- Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
- Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.
Top candidates will also have:
- Academic credentials in an engineering discipline
- Industrial facility and capital project experience
- Demonstrated direct and indirect leadership capabilities
- Project Management certifications
- PLC experience
- Wonderware experience
- Power systems experience
