Description
Caterpillar is seeking a Technology Project Team Leader in the Office of the CTO. The individual in this role will be leading strategic projects and improving processes that support the Enterprise Technology Strategy and its governing bodies the Product Development Council (PDC) and Senior Technology Leader Forum (STLF). Project scope will vary. Projects may have a moderate technical focus on component, product, or process and will require the incumbent to broaden their business understanding. The ability to draw upon foundational product development skills such as conceptual design, development of product and/or process, data analysis & extraction, failure resolution & prevention, and requirements management is required; as well as, keeping up with technology.
Employees assigned to the Office of the CTO are flexible, who can excel at many roles on many different types of teams. They communicate effectively across functional areas and businesses, and contribute thought leadership regardless of their role on a given team. They leverage their networks to incorporate expertise needed by the projects at hand. Flexibility is key to managing the variety of projects and responsibilities as they change over time.
Use of an enterprise perspective is integral to success in the Office of the CTO. The incumbent must be able to take an enterprise perspective on product and technology development and must be able to share that viewpoint while understanding the varying viewpoints across the businesses.
Job Duties
Planning and managing projects and teams
Developing and implementing processes
Communicating the key aspects of the program to various audiences from individual contributors to executive leaders
Coaching and developing others
Influencing others in all directions
Leading cross-functional and cross-BU teams
Writing whitepapers, memoranda, and presentation materials
Maintaining the STLF Playbook, and creating/maintaining other governing documents
Basic Qualifications
BS degree in Engineering or related field
5-10 years of product development experience
Top Candidates will also have
Excellent communication and organization skills
Past Black Belt experience is desired, but not required
Experience leading and executing leveraged R&D
Experience leading cross-functional and cross-BU teams
Facilitation experience
Strategy development experience
Advanced program management skills

The location for this position is Mossville, IL
Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Any relocation costs incurred would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
This position may require up to 10% travel.
