About the Job:
This is a non-technical internship within the engineering and technical library located at the Technical Center in Mossville, Illinois. As a Library Intern at Caterpillar, you will assist the Technical Information Center staff with providing Caterpillar researchers with the best internal and external technical knowledge and information sources to drive quality and innovation in product development.
JOB DUTIES:
- Circulation: Perform circulation processes including checkout, overdue notices, journal routings, repairs to materials, shelving.
- Collection Maintenance: Perform shelf reads, conduct inventories, and execute weeding (se-selection) as directed by the Collection Development Librarian.
- Interlibrary Loan Support: Provide operational support to Interlibrary Loan Librarian such as pulling materials, scanning of articles/books, etc.
- Data Entry: Enters records as appropriate into on-line computer catalog; resolves grief records; maintains statistics and relevant usage records.
- Filing: Maintain confidential files both electronic and paper
- Shipping & Receiving: Oversee mail deliveries, packages, and international shipments

- Adept in locating and utilizing job related information and tools

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:
The incumbent must possess skills in typing, filing, and be proficient in computer skills including MS Office, e-mail and web based applications. Good communication skills, the ability to work well in a team environment and a strong customer focus are required as well. The incumbent must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.

Internship Program Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in a full-time, 2 or 4-year accredited college or university
- Minimum 3.0/4.0 Cumulative GPA (no rounding)
- Expected graduation: December 2024 and beyond
- Proficient in Office 365 tools: PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, Yammer, Teams, etc.
- Must be located within the Peoria, IL area for duration of internship, and complete daily work commute using reliable transportation
Top candidates will also have:
