The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).

As an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager you will be responsible for providing leadership, mentoring and direction to hourly, salaried, and management personnel to insure employee health and the environment are protected. You will conduct and supervise activities that ensure compliance with governmental regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT) and corporate policies. This position typically manages Environmental, Health and/or Safety (EHS) activities at a 300-400 employee facility. Individual will be responsible for supervising two (2) or more EHS staff and support personnel.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages all Precision Seals Americas EHS functions and reports to the Facility Manager

  • Manages an EHS organization consisting of one management/support EHS Professional and one EHS non-traditional

  • Responsible for training motivating and development of employees

  • Develops facility strategy for EHS and implementation of technology enabled solutions

  • Leads all Precision Seals injury case management and supports RCCA activities

  • Drives continuous improvement in risk reduction, safety culture and injury prevention plans

  • Provides leadership and influence in the SIF and pSIF process

  • Drives EHS assurance manual compliance and gap assessments

  • Acts as the facility EHS contact and support for all internal and external needs

  • Conducts all facility EHS metric tracking and reporting

  • Assures compliance with organization and government EHS standards

  • Champions lean culture and rolls out lean initiatives/tools for functional are

Basic Qualifications:

  • Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Policy Compliance: Knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies; ability to implement EHS policies to ensure that provided products and services are safe for people and the environment and in compliance with legal requirements and standards. Will be facility expert for policy compliance, including guiding and directing leadership.

  • Risk Management: Knowledge of processes, tools and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization's exposure to risks of various kinds; ability to apply knowledge of risk management appropriately to diverse situations. Understanding of and working to mitigate safety risks. Ability to assess risk from a safety standpoint.

  • Interpersonal Relationships: Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner. Comfortable communicating with all levels and functions within the facility, including operations. Willingness to lead safety presentations.

  • Overcoming Resistance to Change: Understanding and insight into the futility of refusing to accept the inevitable and ability to overcome resistance and adapt to a complex and changing environment. Comfortable creating and leading new safety programs within a medium sized facility.

  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations. Understanding of Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCAs) and ability to lead team through RCCAs in order to enact preventative safety measures.


Top Candidates will also have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety or similar field of study

Additional Information:

  • This position is located in Mapleton, IL and does offer domestic relocation

  • This role is primarily a 1st shift position, however due to the nature of the role may be required to be on-call and occasional weekend/after-hours work
