Caterpillar’s Earthmoving Division is hiring a Strategic Program Manager to develop, rollout and execute a governance approach that supports the overarching Earthmoving Division strategy.

Job Summary: Utilizing effective program execution processes and tools, this person will be responsible for ensuring cross-functional teams develop plans, and track and drive progress. The role will develop a deep understanding of processes and business needs to lead teams through a consistent approach to execute on key programs and initiatives, while providing high-level progress reporting to senior leadership.

Job Duties

  • Gather data of current processes or gaps, conduct stakeholder interviews and provide input for the division on best practices, process efficiencies and program management opportunities.

  • Work with all levels of management to define and track key strategic milestones while developing, maintaining, and reporting on an overall integrated strategy execution plan.

  • Help deliver on business strategies through the facilitation or leadership of projects of small to medium size, visibility, and complexity levels. This position may lead cross-functional initiatives as well as targeted improvement projects in specific business and functional areas.

  • Communicate program measures of success to include plans, status, issues and risks in a timely manner to team members, and stakeholders. Gather and apply lessons learned for continuous improvement.

  • Act as an advisor or consultant to senior management. External contacts include various business partner contacts on a worldwide basis.

Required Qualifications

  • 4-year college or university degree

  • Extensive experience (8+ years) developing and executing program and project governance.

  • Experience communicating and partnering with senior leadership effectively.

  • Change Management skills.

  • Self-starter with excellent time management, organization and prioritization skills.

  • Advanced proficiencies in Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Word, Microsoft Projects, Excel).

Top Candidates Will Also Have (Desired Qualifications)

  • Six Sigma, Lean and or Agile methodology experience.

  • Knowledge in strategy development and execution.

  • Strong listening and communication skills essential to convey the value to execute and sustain change.

  • Comfortable raising questions, issues, objections and ideas in a professional manner at all levels of the organization.

  • An engineering or operations background.

  • Strong business acumen with proven ability to learn quickly.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to collaborate with people from many different backgrounds, cultures and levels within and outside the organization.
