Caterpillar has an opening for a Conditioning Monitoring Advisor in Peoria, IL

In this role, you will be responsible for delivery of equipment and engine condition(health) monitoring and diagnostic recommendations to IPSD (Industrial Power Systems Division) OEM customers and dealers/distributors. The role will support both Cat and Perkins customers. The machines and engines you would be supporting can be powering hospitals, schools, banks, construction machines and croup harvesters to mention a few of the applications we already support today. In the role you will use and help develop our condition monitoring tools to provide insights to our customers that prevent unplanned down time and help our customers manage their business more effectively. Customer rightly expect IPSD to be the engine expert and the condition monitoring team can meet and exceed that expectation by using the advanced analytics tools and providing timely insights.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Utilizing enabling software tools & systems to analyze received data inputs.

  • To aggregate and correlate the data to provide meaningful insights as to what is happening on the equipment or engine.

  • Produce reports regularly to be distributed to OEM customers, dealer/distributors detailing, the problem, possible root cause and remedial action required.

  • Track closure of remedial action proposed in the report.

  • Provide feedback to the design teams to enable continuous improvement.

  • Liaise with subject matter experts to gain knowledge and insights to increase accuracy of the data analysis and determination of root cause.

  • Collaborates with engine subject matter expert to resolve complex, non-standard customer application issues, and contribute to improving the accuracy and reliability of the diagnostic tools.

  • Collaborates with OEM product teams and or dealers/distributors on any recommendations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A college or university degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in condition(health) monitoring with direct customer interaction.

  • Experience of using multiple software/business systems to gather data.

  • Proficient in MS office with strong emphasis on MS excel or other analytics tools

  • Performed data analysis and correlation on sets of data.

  • Able to deduce and draw conclusions from the analyzed data.

  • ·Sound technical ability in servicing/repair of engines/construction equipment, diagnostics tools, data analysis to aide fault finding.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Understanding of Engine performance and systems.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to deal with sensitive, emotional, or potentially charged situation with OEM customers.

  • Strong execution ability

  • Experience of working with remote connected assets or fleet telematics.

  • Familiarity with J1939 diagnostic standard and its application.

  • Good communication skills

  • Good Team interaction skill

  • Is a self-motivator and driven for results.
