Job Description
Caterpillar’s Integrated Drivetrain Division (IDT) designs and manufactures mechanical and electric drivetrain components and systems used across the full Cat machine product line.
For this Torque Converter Senior Engineer position, responsibility is focused on the success of product end of line testing. This will involve gaining a deep understanding of the test stands, product, supplier quality and metrology. Success in this role will also revolve around drawing actionable conclusions from historic data trends as well as creating documentation for future efficiency. Additionally, analysis of end of line performance will play into specification writing, limit setting and to distinguish between product and facility issues. Secondary to end of line test, you will be asked to support select NPI, CPI and maintenance activities.
Job Duties
Increasing end of line first test pass rate by addressing systemic design and/or quality issues.
Influence end of line technical specifications and limits.
Develop end of line troubleshooting database and tools.
Interact with our global test stand community.
Pull test data, study trends, draw conclusions that will drive action.
Collaborate with Operations, Assembly, Design, inspection labs and suppliers.
Report out findings to peers, process partners and leadership.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in related field.
Problem solving skills related to complex rotating systems.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communications skills.
Strong initiative/self-starter while being a team player.
Top candidates will also have
Master's degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum.
Previous role a hardware design engineer.
Powertrain design, development, or product support experience.
Validation experience.
Understanding of Drivetrain performance.
Experience in sleeve and roller bearing selection criteria.
FMEA based validation process experience.
NPI and CPI experience.
Previous torque converter design experience.
Six Sigma Green or Black Belt experience.
Demonstrated ability to use combination of analysis and test to solve problems.
Identifying process or technical knowledge gaps and initiating actions to address them.
Proficient in CREO modeling and Teamcenter.
Additional Information
This position will close 10/2/2023 at 11:59 pm.
The location for this position is East Peoria, IL in Building KK and remote work will not be considered.
This position may require less than 5% travel.
