Caterpillar Inc. seeks Sr. Engineers – Design at its facility located at 2427 E Engine Drive, Chillicothe, IL 61523.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Will collaborate with Product Link and Vision Link products and services. Will create hardware and software design specifications on new and improved design. Will lead procurement, build, and validation of prototype and production hardware and systems. Will schedule, lead, and perform FMEAs, Design Reviews and Stakeholder Updates. Will complete DVP&R activities, test procedures, and contribute to product Special Instruction. Will schedule and perform Field Follow validation activities on Cat and Customer machines and will develop and release BOM engineering drawings into the Caterpillar systems. Will support customers with field installation questions utilizing DSN systems. Will provide technical guidance to peers and initiate innovative new ideas for software and end products & systems. Will communicate effectively in product development reviews with working teams and management. Will execute in a fast-paced delivery mode and focus on delivering tasks to meet the product release goal through Agile methodology.

REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires a Master’s degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a closely related field and 5 years of experience performing design engineering in the automotive, heavy equipment or similar industry. Alternatively, will accept a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a closely related field and 7 years of experience performing design engineering in the automotive, heavy equipment or similar industry. Additionally, position also requires 5 years of experience (which may have been gained concurrently) with the following: (1) Scheduling and performing FMEAs and Design Reviews; (2) Creating hardware and software design specifications for automotive or heavy machinery; (3) Performing root cause analysis for machine failures; and (4) collaborating with external suppliers to provide procurement of prototype material and support of field validation activities / resolution of warranty issues.
