The Supply Chain Performance Engineer 4 will be responsible for strategic planning and execution for the Ground Engaging Tools (GET) casting business. Typical process partners are various contacts throughout Caterpillar worldwide and its subsidiaries. External contacts include various suppliers worldwide. The position monitors adherence to quality standards and develops action plans for addressing below standard performance at suppliers. The incumbent establishes and then monitors general policies and guidelines for projects under his/her control to ensure specific, management goals are met, and desired results are achieved.
Responsibilities:
- Developing and managing an overall holistic view and strategy associated with a specific GET product value stream, to ensure both short-term and long-term objectives can be achieved with regards to quality, cost, capacity, and lead time. This value stream may encompass multiple operational facilities, including both internal and external sources of supply, across multiple regions
- Implementing Lean systems and strategies to maximize profitable growth, drive quality improvements, inventories, and lead times through continuous improvements
- Tying all activities into a continuous flow, representing the entire value chain, and removing silos. The incumbents should drive interconnectedness and integration of each step in the chain and process from raw material supply to customer/dealer delivery
- Leading the broader team to develop/sustain holistic current and future state roadmap for entire product relevant value stream to ensure current and future capability and capacity aligned with enterprise forecasts
- Creating and maintaining multi-generational project plans (MGPP) to achieve the future state(s) map, and ensure governance in the execution of that MGPP
- Developing clear Definitions of Winning (DOW) for the Value Stream, including daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly expectations and ensures execution this DOW, with urgent and robust Root Cause Correction Action (RCCA) implemented where gaps are proactively identified
- Interfacing with all levels of management and across functional disciplines, and should be comfortable and proficient at driving action and/or escalation across the matrix
- Must posses a knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes, overall supply network, as well as Lean manufacturing techniques. Knowledge of Lean supply chain management and 6 Sigma are imperative to success
- Lead various continuous improvement projects using 6 Sigma and Lean principles
- Resource management, the ability to lead successful teams, and continuous process improvement, are essential requirements for this position
- Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree, or higher in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Manufacturing-related degree
- 10 (plus) years of progressively responsible experience in Supply Chain, Engineering, Procurement, and/or Manufacturing
- Global Project Management experience
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of company policies and procedures related to Manufacturing, Supply Chain and/or Engineering
- Experience dealing with sensitive issues, developing others, or influencing others inside and outside the department to take specific actions
- Experience leading teams to drive substantial process and cultural changes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong problem-solving skills as well as organizational and planning skills, strong interpersonal skills the ability to work with a diverse workforce
- Strong communication and teamwork skills the ability to influence process partners around the world
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time
Top Candidates will Also Have:
- Experience leading a global team
- Previous experience dealing with suppliers
- APICS, CPIM or CSPC National Certification
