Caterpillar Inc seeks Electrical Systems Verification & Validation Engineer at its facility located at 2427 E Engine Dr., Chillicothe, IL., 61523.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Will serve as a part of the global team and work closely with others to conduct release testing, resolve issues, automate testing, and investigate field issues involving both software and electronics. Will perform software and electrical system validation engineering for large diesel engines and after treatment, Testing will include HIL (Hardware in the Loop) and VPD (Virtual Product Development) tools with the goal of validating core diesel engine & aftertreatment electronic systems & software. Will document test plans based on software specifications and change management requests. Will participate in NPI and CPI design discussions and with system engineers to refine and clarify specifications. Will troubleshoot issues found during testing working with software and system engineers and when necessary, will investigate field issues, which typically involve replicating the field issue in a lab environment using a variety of techniques.

REQUIREMENTS:

Position requires a Master’s degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related field and 4 years of experience performing software and electrical system validation engineering in support of large diesel engines. Position also requires 4 years of experience (which may have been gained concurrently) using HIL (Hardware in the Loop) and VPD (Virtual Product Development) tools to support software testing and validation; participating in and taking a lead role in NPI and CPI design discussions and with system engineers to refine and clarify specifications; performing software troubleshooting of core diesel engines; and direct working experience with software tools and technologies including specifically: Python, Control Desk, Automation Desk, Canape, Canalyzer, Farevo, MatLab and Simulink.

Alternatively, will accept a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related field and 6 years of experience performing software and electrical system validation engineering in support of large diesel engines. Position also requires 4 years of experience (which may have been gained concurrently) using HIL (Hardware in the Loop) and VPD (Virtual Product Development) tools to support software testing and validation; participating in and taking a lead role in NPI and CPI design discussions and with system engineers to refine and clarify specifications; performing software troubleshooting of core diesel engines; and direct working experience with software tools and technologies including specifically: Python, Control Desk, Automation Desk, Canape, Canalyzer, Farevo, MatLab and Simulink.
