Caterpillar Inc. seeks Controls Systems Senior Engineers at its facility located at Illinois Route 29 at Old Galena Road, AC Building, Mossville, IL 61552.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Will develop electro-mechanical control systems using quantitative methods to solve problems for Caterpillar’s internal and external customers through integrating mechanical and electronic components and systems through control algorithm implementation and optimization using data from sensors, on-board models and product analytics. Will assist in the concept and design of complex engineering product and process projects for release to production in a manner that ensures products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability. Will conduct Failure Mode Effects Analysis and create boundary diagrams and interface specifications. Will perform needs analysis and initiate ideas as well as design and promote new control systems and sub processes. Will perform network analysis and analyse engineering data from engines / machines. Will perform integration lab testing and product maintenance. Will work directly with Matlab/Simulink, co-simulation, neural networks, adaptive control and self-learning machines. Will work cross functionally to communicate technical information to customers, team members, suppliers and other engineering units; and support and advise other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, customers and suppliers.

REQUIREMENTS:

Requires a Master’s degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a closely related field and 4 years of progressive experience performing control systems development and engineering.

Alternatively, will accept a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a closely related field and 6 years of progressive experience performing control systems development and engineering.

Position also requires 4 years of experience (1) performing software development from stems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification; (2) troubleshooting and software integration; (3) leading New Product Introduction (NPI) projects and managing delivery schedules that are aligned with the other teams’ schedules; (4) collaborating with cross functional teams to review technical and functional requirements; (5) performing functional specification authoring, and control systems development testing and delivery using MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow; CANape CANalyzer, GIT/Ivy, software engineering tools and technologies: Hardware in the Loop (HIL), Simulation and Validation; datalinks (CAN/J1939/Ethernet).
