Caterpillar Inc. seeks Control SYS SR. Engineers at its facility located at 2427 E Engine Dr., Chillicothe IL 61523.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As a member of the Mining Machine Systems Integration team, will work as part of an engineering team to design, develop, integrate, and test machine electronic control components and systems for use in Large Mining and Small Off-Highway Truck applications. Will support updates and improvements for current production models as well as working on projects to develop and integrate the latest electronic architectures and technologies onto Caterpillar Mining Machines. Will create technical specification and integration documentation for machine systems components, ECM’s and software. Will work with the machines system and sub-system teams to resolve system design and integration issues during development and production. Will support and communication of software releases, including documentation required by field follow and/or customers for successfully updating software, wiring and components. Will report technical status to related Cat Electronics teams in gateway and stakeholder updates. Will coordinate software development activities and ensuring they are completed on schedule and will perform test plan development and system/software validation activities.

REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field and 3 years of experience performing control systems development in support of mining, heavy equipment or automotive industry.

Alternatively will accept Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related and 5 years of experience performing control systems development in support of mining, heavy equipment or automotive industry.

Additionally, the position requires 3 years of experience (which may have been gained concurrently) with: (1) Electrical / electronic control systems; (2) Developing machine control requirements, algorithms and specifications; (3) Installing new hardware, maintaining existing hardware and troubleshooting any accompanying issues; and (4) direct working experience with software tools and technologies including specifically: CAN, ClearCase, GIT, J1939 and data link communications.
