When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do – but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.
Caterpillar’s Resource Industries Division is seeking a Growth Consultant to strengthen dealer capability, drive integrated governance, and enable data‑driven execution of growth strategies across the Mining Segment. In this role, you will shape how Resource Industries works with dealers, product groups, and enterprise stakeholders to accelerate performance toward Mining Growth Council priorities and long-term Enterprise targets. Your work will directly influence dealer readiness, customer outcomes, and the effectiveness of Caterpillar’s growth operating model.
Why This Role Is Exciting
Strategic Impact: You will influence enterprise‑level growth priorities by shaping dealer capability frameworks, performance governance, and cross‑functional alignment across the mining ecosystem.
Data‑Driven Leadership: You will own critical reporting structures, dashboards, and analytics that guide executive decision‑making and dealer performance management.
Enterprise Collaboration: Work across RI Strategy, STUs, PINS, Product Groups, Regions, ESD, and dealer organizations—serving as a central connector for growth execution.
Capability Building: You will help define what “great” looks like for mining dealers and support their glidepath toward 2030 performance expectations.
What You Will Do
·Strengthen Dealer Capability Governance Manage and maintain the RI Differentiated Dealer Capabilities (DDC) framework, ensuring accurate metrics, consistent application across dealers, and alignment with Mining SGC priorities. Validate data, coordinate with metric owners, and provide insights that guide dealer capability improvement and progress toward 2030 goals.
·Deliver Data‑Driven Reporting & Insights Own key reporting structures that support the Mining Segment Growth Council. Consolidate performance data into clear dashboards and summary packs, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely updates. Translate data into actionable insights for executives, regions, and dealer teams.
·Support Cross‑Functional Growth Execution Collaborate with RI Strategy, STUs, PINS, Product Groups, Regions, and enterprise DDC stakeholders to align on growth priorities. Provide structured analysis that supports capability reviews, growth plan execution, and dealer performance assessments.
·Enable Governance & Executive Communication Develop quarterly VP‑level updates integrating DDC performance, growth plan progress, dependency status, high‑impact product issues, and key mining KPIs. Maintain SGC governance materials, SharePoint resources, and standardized dealer performance views.
·Assist Dependency Management Support the RI Dependency Process Manager by gathering data, preparing gate materials, and tracking aging dependencies. Help identify root causes and support teams in driving timely resolution.
·Collaborate Across Teams Work closely with engineering, strategy, product, marketing, and dealer-facing teams to ensure alignment on growth objectives and reporting needs. Communicate clearly, support cross-functional coordination, and contribute to continuous improvement of governance and analytical practices.
What Skills You Will Have
Customer Focus Ability to show strong awareness of dealer and customer needs and apply insights from reliability, technology adoption, and service performance to guide capability priorities. Demonstrate alignment of DDC work and improvement plans with real operational challenges across Regions and Dealers. Incorporate stakeholder feedback to strengthen customer and dealer outcomes.
Effective Communication Communicate insights, data, and recommendations clearly across RI, Regions, Dealers, and cross‑functional teams. Produce concise dashboards, pre‑reads, and executive summaries tailored to diverse audiences. Adjust communication style based on feedback to ensure clarity and shared understanding.
Region, Dealer & Metric Owner Reporting Management Ability to manage accurate, timely reporting inputs from Regions, Dealers, and metric owners while maintaining high standards for data quality. Identify reporting gaps, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure consistency across DDC, KPI, and Growth Plan reporting. Maintain strong follow‑through to deliver complete and reliable reporting packages.
Relationship Management – Region & Dealer Focus Build productive working relationships with Regions, Dealers, Product Groups, ESD, and cross‑functional partners. Respond promptly to Region/Dealer needs and collaborate to resolve capability, reporting, or performance issues. Recognize early signs of relationship challenges and engage appropriate teams to address them.
Strategic Thinking Understanding how DDCs, Growth Plans, Dependencies, and High‑Impact Product Issues support the broader enterprise mining strategy. Demonstrates awareness of industry and competitive trends that influence dealer capability needs.
