Role Definition
Large Engines and Drivetrain Operations has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineering position within the Drivetrain Assembly Planning team located in East Peoria, Illinois. The Manufacturing Engineer role is an important function within KK assembly planning team, with a focus on technical process support for assembly velocity requirements.
The candidate will be responsible for providing technical SME expertise required to support the design, development, and implementation of manufacturing processes/systems related to Assembling of Transmissions, Torque Converters, Final Drives, and Axles. Incumbent will interface directly with multiple teams including Safety, Engineering, Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Resources, and Product Change Control. In this role you will work both independently and as part of a team to maintain and improve processes and systems used in manufacturing. In addition, Manufacturing Engineers function as a specialist and subject matter expert for technical planning capable of meeting and or exceeding customer requirements.
Responsibilities

Lead Manufacturing engineering support on planning, In Process Validation development, operation, and Capital acquisitions for the maintenance of equipment and Assembly processes.

Engage in creative problem solving to support operational issues including safety, capacity improvements, process inefficiencies and quality concerns through disciplined problem-solving techniques and root cause analysis.

Provides manufacturing technical support for continuously improving capability aligned to in process validations, state or the art process controls aligned to quality certification requirements.

Supports Manufacturing team members and develops innovative solutions to address manufacturing production problems through identification and implementation of advanced manufacturing processes.

Works with internal and external suppliers to manage projects, ensuring efficient cost-effective systems and processes are in order, to produce quality products.

Manages Assembly NPI programs aligned to NPI roadmap processes to ensure programs are processed on time aligned to program requirements.
Degree Requirement
Engineering Degree with experience as Manufacturing Engineer in Assembly or extensive experience as Manufacturing Engineer in Assembly desired.

Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Judgment and Decision Making: Level Working Knowledge
Knowledge of the decision-making process; ability to carefully evaluate the impact of emerging business situations and choose the best path forward communicating actions and activities that maximize organizational performance.
Lean Manufacturing: Level Working Knowledge
Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.
Manufacturing Equipment: Level Working Knowledge
Knowledge of the electrical, mechanical and logistics equipment used in manufacturing; ability to safely operate, maintain, update and store them.
Manufacturing Processes: Level Extensive Experience
Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process.
Manufacturing Safety: Level Extensive Experience
Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.
Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies: Level Extensive Experience
Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.
Problem Management Process - MFG: Level Working Knowledge
Knowledge of manufacturing problem management processes, methodologies and techniques; ability to use a disciplined approach to bringing that problem to a successful resolution.
