Overview
The Surgery Scheduling Specialist provides planning and service to patients and physicians in order to facilitate the scheduling and performance of procedures.
Responsibilities
- Facilitates the scheduling of procedures within a hospital or out-patient surgery center.
- Proactively identify potential problems with cases that are missing information and discrepancies in type of procedure, surgeon, and times.
- Coordinates scheduling of procedure suites with the provider, anesthesia services, and ancillary services.
- May conduct financial discussion with patients regarding fees for surgical procedures and collect surgical deposits, as per departmental guidelines.
- Serves as a resource to other staff regarding scheduling functions and participates in training other staff to cover during absences or anticipated vacancies.
- Schedules pre-procedure H&P's per policy MS503.
- Create new patient account and input medical insurance as applicable
- Other duties as assigned
- Mans DHI check-in at front desk during downtime per department needs
