Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:To help children and their families better understand the illness, hospitalization and outpatient procedures. Decreasing stress and anxiety related to procedures, separation from home and family and changes in routine are the key focus areas.

Education: | Bachelor’s Degree in Child Life or Child Development related field. |

Experience: | Child Life Internship |

License(s)/Certification(s):
| Must possess and maintain current Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) within 1 year of hire. | Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Completion of a minimum of 480 hours through Child Life Internship. |
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
| Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser. Multicultural sensitivity Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions. |

Other:
| Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position. Work may occasionally require travel to other UPH facilities/hospitals. Required to drive your own vehicle for business purposes. |

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Essential Functions/Responsibilities: |
Assessment-Promotes the use of evidence-based practice using protocols and procedures.

Intervention-participates in the interdisciplinary care of the patient with the collaboration of team members, utilizing additional resources as needed.

Education- Assesses and chooses teaching strategies appropriate to the patient's age and family needs.
|
Performance Improvement- actively participates in data collection, analysis, problem-solving and gives input on process improvements and patient satisfaction.
