Position Title: Assistant Director, Testing Coordinator

Department: Student Access Services

Reports to: Director of Student Access Services

Appointment: Full-time; 12 Months

Status: Exempt

Summary:

Manages testing accommodations for students with disabilities, coordinating schedules, facilities, and technology while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates alternative testing accommodations for students with disabilities.
  • Communicates with professors via email of student testing at SAS and coordinate receipt of exams.
  • Packages examinations and coordinates pick-up/delivery of completed exams.
  • Converts exams and quizzes into alternative formats.
  • Manage daily office operations and proctoring, including summer exams, within the SAS Testing Center.
  • Assist with summer students e-text and note-taking accommodations.
  • Answer calls/emails about Bradley and Student Access Services.
  • Archiving/Updating/Destroying files.
  • Assist incoming students/families with information on accommodations and SAS registration process.
  • Assist in research and policy updates regarding accommodation best practice and law.
  • Facilitate onboarding new graduate assistants and other staff members.
  • Update office documents, SOP's, software, marketing materials, etc.
  • Supervise Grad Assistants and Administrative Support on daily testing center tasks.
  • Assist director with approving start of semester requests for notifying faculty and sending accommodation letters.
  • Table events and help with Orientation sessions.
  • Provides educational materials in accessible formats for students with disabilities and confers with faculty regarding accessible classroom materials.
  • Conducts assistive technology assessments and makes recommendations for equipment that mitigates barriers for students.
  • Utilizes AIM to coordinate the lending and tracking of assistive technology devices to students and faculty.
  • Provides training on the use of assistive technology for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Works collaboratively with the Director of Student Access Services to ensure that all technology is current and makes recommendations for future purchases.
  • Researches and stays abreast of current and emerging technologies related to access and assistive technology.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of student information (as indicated by Bradley University policies and the Family Educational Right to Privacy Act).

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in special education or closely related field.
  • Minimum of three years of recent experience in access services in an academic or comparable setting, including supervision of staff, assessment of services and operations, and developing policies, procedures and workflows.
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws such as sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendment Act.
  • Familiar with accommodations for students with disabilities, assistive technology, and software programs for individuals with disabilities.
  • Highly proficient in word processing and database use.
  • Ability to work with confidential information and records.
  • Show respect and sensitivity for cultural differences and individuals with disabilities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in person, via email and telephone with students, alumni, employers, University personnel and external constituents.

Mental/Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Work is performed in a normal office environment with little exposure to outdoor temperatures or dirt and dust. Working conditions are typically moderately quiet.
