The Associate Director of the Academic Success Center is responsible for administration of the Academic Exploration Program for students choosing to enter the university exploring major options. The Associate Director works in collaboration with University Programs and those who were not directly admitted into their chosen major (pre-college programs). The Associate Director will work collaboratively with other student success initiatives within the Academic Success Center, including support for peer-led academic support services and delivery of Turning Point Programming for students on academic probation. The Associate Director reports to the Director of the Academic Success Center within the Division of Student Affairs.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Administration of the Academic Exploration Program (AEP): 50%
    • Advise students on appropriate developmental, required, and exploratory coursework during the academic year and at orientation events
    • Present recruitment content to prospective students and their supporters at Undergraduate Admission events and during campus visit programs
    • Plan and promote programs and services to exploratory students, including the scheduling and staffing of AEP classes
    • Collaborate with academic affairs and the Smith Career Center to implement the annual Majors & Minors Fair
    • Instruct Academic Exploration Program (AEP) courses for exploratory and/or probationary students
    • Coordinate the Footsteps job shadowing program in collaboration with the Smith Career Center
    • Oversee the administration of assessments to student in AEP courses
    • Update and ensure distribution of program-related communication to admitted students
  • Collaboration with Academic Success Center (ASC) initiatives: 50%
    • Assist with execution of the Turning Point Program (mandatory for students on academic probation) requirements
    • Identify trends affecting the success of pre-college students and work with Academic Success Center staff to develop solutions
    • Support new student Orientation initiatives within the Division of Student Affairs
    • Engage ASC staff in developmental training on procedures and best practices in supporting UNV and AEP students and the peers who help support their success
    • Engage UNV advisors in developmental training on procedures and best practices in supporting pre-college students
    • Complete other duties as assigned

A master's degree and leadership experience in higher education administration or a related field is required. Experience working with and advising exploratory students preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who have worked with academic support initiatives including peer-based academic support and study skills development training. Candidates must possess exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication (verbal and written) skills. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, possesses excellent problem solving and analytical skills, embrace change management, possess the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and be able to build positive relationships within the Academic Success Center and the Bradley University community. The Division of Student Affairs is committed to candidates who demonstrate experiences with collaboration, diversity and inclusion, experiential learning, retention, and student wellness. This is a 12-month, full-time position. Some evening and weekend work is required.
