About The Position
The Supervisor - Damage Prevention is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the Damage Prevention Specialists and the management of their work. This role also acts as the system administrator to manage the use of the IRTH software and aid screeners. Their work also includes the daily enforcement of safety rules, HR policies, and resolution of employee conflict and customer complaints.
Key responsibilities include:
● Supervise, develop, and evaluate individuals in the damage prevention of the electric and gas distribution facility. Provide clear expectations for their performance.
● Schedule, assign, and direct the workforce in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.
● Work with excavators in problem resolution and education on the Illinois Underground Utility Facilities Damage Prevention Act.
● Perform duties as J.U.L.I.E. Coordinator to assure proper coverage and gridding of locate tickets as well as serving as the resident expert on the Illinois Underground Utility Facilities Damage Prevention Act. Provide presentations and educational materials on underground safety and the state laws to the attendees at each of the annual J.U.L.I.E. excavator meetings.
● Meet monthly with locate contractors to monitor performance, resolve issues and pursue opportunities.
● Participate and provide information to support vendor contract negotiations.
● Perform billing audits.
● Support facilitation of the Pipeline Integrity transmission standby notification process. Implement and manage locate contractor quality assurance program.
● Maintain and update data as requested.
● Travel required.
Qualifications
Associates degree in related field (e.g. Engineering Technology, Construction Management) required. Seven or more years of relevant experience required (e.g. electric or gas distribution design and/or underground locator or construction experience). Bachelor's degree in related field (e.g., Engineering) preferred and may substitute for two years required experience. Nine or more years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
Working knowledge of CSS, Excel, Power Point, API, Byers, Access and Word preferred.
