Our Pekin campus produces products destined for Health, Home& Beauty; Food and Beverage; Industry & Agriculture; Essential Ingredients; and Renewable Fuels markets. All personnel are responsible for the safety of these products, which includes participation in training, following cGMP and feed/food safety requirements in the facility, and following procedures per instruction of management.
Job Purpose: Perform work involving the skills of multiple trades or craft occupations to keep machines, instrumentation, electrical equipment and components, control systems, or the infrastructure of an establishment in repair.
The following is a list of major duties and responsibilities for this position along with certain supportive duties. It is not all-inclusive. Other duties and responsibilities may be added as needed and in addition, management may modify this job description as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspect, test, repair, monitor and maintain all electrical components, systems, instruments, and equipment.
- Analyze and document test results and calibrations.
- Diagnose root cause of electrical malfunctions and corrective actions.
- Install and repair conduits, cables, wiring, and equipment.
- Perform routine, preventive, and predictive maintenance as scheduled.
- Housekeeping as required. Maintain high department and plant sanitation standards.
- Monitor and maintain all compliance requirements.
- Work overtime as required.
- Perform other duties assigned by management as required.
- Schedules, shifts, and days off subject to change.
Education/Experience:
- Reading, writing, math, and computer and Microsoft Office Software knowledge.
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
- Also, must meet at least one of the following:
- 4 Year College Electrical Degree.
- 2 Year College Electrical Degree with a Minimum 2 years’ experience in an Industrial Electrical and Instrumentation maintenance related role.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in an Industrial Electrical and Instrumentation maintenance related role.
- Successfully completed an approved training program or skilled trade apprenticeship program.
- Thorough knowledge of Electrical theory and principals and their practical application.
- Knowledge of low, medium, and high voltage, distribution, and electronics.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, loop sheets, and motor diagrams.
- Familiar with PLC and HMI systems.
Qualifications:
- Technician must operate in a safe, compliant (follow requirements defined in NFPA 70E), efficient, and productive manner. Wear all safety equipment as required.
- Mechanical and Electrical skills required.
- Knowledge of computers necessary. Ability to enter required data on computers including EAM maintenance program.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work under pressure of deadlines.
- Handle hazardous chemicals such as alcohol, caustic, acids, oils, and lubricants etc.
- Strong verbal & written communication skills. Has strong working knowledge of the English language. Ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work in a team environment. Works well with others. Ability to perform job tasks with minimal supervision.
- Stays informed and in compliance of all daily, weekly, or routine assignments delivered from management in the format of written or verbal communications.
- Strong mathematical skills required, basic arithmetic, algebra, and geometry
- Must be able to qualify on the operation of heavy equipment including: Fork Truck, Skid steer, Wheel Loader, Trackmobile, and JLG.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work in cold to hot temperatures; work around dust, fumes, and/or moderate to loud noises; works inside and/or outside.
- Able to lift, pull, carry, and pick-up average to heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Able to climb stairs and ladders; walk on paved and unpaved surfaces; sit at a desk and operate a computer and keyboard; visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear, speak, and understand speech at normal room levels and on the telephone; manual dexterity to operate a telephone; lift horizontally and vertically, bend, stoop, stand, and reach.
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
- Climb and work in high places and/or from ladders, roofs, etc.
- Work in confined spaces. Work in dusty conditions: milo, corn, feed-grain dusts.
