Advanced Medical Transport (AMT) is the premier provider of emergency and scheduled ambulance services in Central and Western Illinois, as well as parts of Iowa. AMT is a private, not-for-profit organization operated for community benefit.
Starting on September 15, 2025, AMT's Earn While You Learn program kicks off an 8-week course that will provide the opportunity to earn $15.42 per hour as a full-time student in an EMT-Basic training program. You will be afforded all of the benefits of a full-time employee, and upon successful completion of our program, you will receive a full-time EMT-Basic position with AMT in Peoria and a wage increase! Our EMTs are responsible for caring for patients in emergency response situations, during interfacility transports, and during standby events. EMT's at AMT work 12-hour shifts across the AMT family of companies.
Job Duties:
- Examine and evaluate patients to determine necessary care
- Provide patients with emergency care by utilizing appropriate techniques and equipment
- Document patient information, condition, and treatment
- Maintain patient confidentiality and perform all care with respect for patient rights
- Transport patients in accordance with outlined policies and procedures
- Maintain a safe, clean, and well-stocked environment in accordance with company vehicle check-off sheets and inventory requirements.
- Operate and drive an ambulance in conjunction with applicable safety policies and laws
- Assist paramedics in all advanced life support situations
- Maintain current certification(s) according to provisions set forth by the governing licensure
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times
- Present and promote a positive company image

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Must be 18 years of age or turning 18 no later than program completion
- Must possess a valid Illinois driver's license
- Commitment of one year of EMT service to AMT in a full-time capacity
- Must be able to provide proof of up to date immunizations
- Must successfully pass AMT-administered EMT entrance exam prior to start of class
- Must successfully complete AMT-ordered post-offer occupational health screen that includes: drug screen, health physical, and physical ability test prior to the start of the class
